Autumn Seasonal Distress Inks!

Ltd_ed_autumn_tim320wi I completely stole this photo from Tim Holtz' blog  - yes, I did.  In my defense, it perfectly shows how gorgeous these new Limited Edition Distress Inks actually are - much better than Ranger's photos.  At this exact minute, the ink pad set is in stock at Stampassion.com, but... they are selling like hotcakes on a cold winter morning!

Because of the enormous demand, Ranger has decided to make more of this ink set - yeah!  So, if we are out-of-stock when you go to order, please know the Autumn inks will be back in stock soon.

Tim has also come up with the next set of seasonal Limited Edition Distress Inks, this time in Christmas colors.  They will start shipping on November 1st and you'll be able to find them at Stampassion.com.  Can't wait!

The Song In Your Heart

I loved both of these Impression Obsession stamps the moment I saw them—Flower_tub_card1b-350they offer so many creative possibilities.  I came up with three examples for Stampassion's latest card kit and am quite happy with the results. Here's the first one, featuring the Flower Tub stamp and an embossed layer done with one of the two Tim Holtz embossing folders included in his Damask & Regal Flourish Set; so pretty. The Flower Tub is colored with Copic Markers, art tools I've fallen in love with this year after unsuccessfully attempting to resist their lure.  They blend so beautifully and are delightful to work with for that reason, like my beloved PrismaColor Pencils (which are feeling a little betrayed).

The tub reminds me of an old copper wash tub we had by the fireplace while growing up, which my parents used to store extra firewood.  I'm happy to have 'inherited' it and it holds, you guessed it, our firewood and kindling also ; )  Love it.

FlowerTub_card2b_325 The inside of the card above, is stamped with the friendship saying you see here.  It's such a beautiful sentiment, I wanted to use it as a focal image. However, it was a bit ho-hum until I stamped Flower Tub as a background and edged the oval with Bundled Sage Distress Ink and an Ink Blending Tool.  All the die cut ovals you see, scalloped and not, are included in the kit.  No punching or die cutting for my customers (at least, not this time!).  No coloring on this one either, so it's easy-peasy and quick.

The scalloped edge was punched with the Elegance Apron Lace Border Punch and the top two corners are rounded to repeat the border shape.

In addition to 30 die cut ovals and two cling-mount stamps, the kit includes 10 cards and envelopes, two types of pretty ribbon and lots of layering papers.

At 15+% off, it's a great deal too—check it out.

Tangled Trading Cards

I finally got Zentangle's delicious new Artist Trading Cards, also known as ATC's, up on our web site.  Switching to a new web site host and aching wrists and fingers (don't want to hear the 'CT' phrase please!), have slowed me down. Still... I managed to find time to Mooka-up this baby:MookaATC_300
And... it was fun, relaxing, invigorating.  As mentioned, the tangle is Mooka, with a little Flux thrown in because I wanted to.  Also, some doo-dads.  Next up, one of the new Black ATC tiles and my trusty White Gelly Roll Pen ; }  Stampassion.com also carries ATC's from Ranger, including Manilla and Glossy White papers and... ATC's made from Claudine Hellmuth's fabulous Sticky Back Canvas.  Lots of options for creative opportunities!

Ready Set Grow & Fundraiser for LLS

Wheelbarrow2_550 Stampassion is sponsoring two cards in a ten card Greeting Card Round Robin taking place on Saturday, June 18th, at Captured Moments in Rotterdam, NY.

The event will help raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and is the brainchild of  Annette Holleger.  Annette hopes to raise $1,500 through this event and walking in the LLS half-marathon in Lake Placid.

This card is made with a darling new stamp from Lockhart Stamp Company, called Ready Set Grow Wheelbarrow.  It is just one of a bunch recently released — lots of flowers and prettiness!  Check them out on the New Products page on Stampassion's web store.

To take a closer look at this first card I did for the Round Robin, just click on the photo.  The second card I designed for Annette's fundraiser is quite similar to the one posted a few days ago, on June 10, in a post called A Hero Arts Hello

We know stampers are a very generous bunch, so let's help Annette out and make ten great cards at the same time.  Annette will also have raffles, including some cool arty stuff we donated.  The cost is just $25 — learn more by clicking here.  Go ahead... you know you want to help a worthy cause and make lots of cards ~:-)

Love Them Cupcakes!

Boat_cupcake_pencil375 Cupcake specialty shops are everywhere these days.  And why not — who doesn't love cupcakes?  I certainly do, but packing them on my thighs is another thing so... rubber cupcakes are a good alternative ; ) For Stampassion's card kit #12, I thought something for the guys was in order, so here it is... Boat Cupcake Card Kit.

The Impression Obsession stamps are perfect for masculine cards and I stuck with good guy-colors.  Yes, I admit to adding ribbon, but nothing too girlie and certainly, no bows.  My husband, Dan, thinks ribbon should never be part of a manly card — obviously artist privilege prevailed. The gingham adds some zip with pattern and texture.

I love the Boundary Waves border punch with nautical images — always looks good!  This card version was colored with PrismaColor Pencils and below is my version colored with Copic Markers.

Boat_cupcake_copic325
The Copic version is much brighter, but I like them both and hope you do too ; )  Again, just a little bit of ribbon adds some zip.

I don't know why the saying, "you're the best", is a bit blurry in both photos. It probably has something to do with the macro setting on my little camera. Trust me when I say that the stamp prints beautifully.  I'm sure it's the camera or possibly, the operator of the camera ~:-)

Enjoy!

Peonies

I adore peonies, truly they are spectacular.  Dan and I live in a heavily wooded area and despite the lack of steady sunshine, I'm happy to have one little peony that faithfully Peony_600sends us two or three blossoms each spring.  Not many, but each is precious to me.  Here's a photo of one from last year.  If you click on it, it'll open a larger image and you can see the dew drops still gracing the petals.

Anyway... if I see a peony stamp, I'm there.  It's mine folks, just because it will remind me of that little slice of time, each spring, when I can cut one of these beauties and bring it inside to admire.  Fleeting, but oh, so sweet!

Lockhart Stamp Company's Peonies image is so pretty and fun to color too.  I always think pink when I see a peony, but apparently you can find them in coral, cream, crimson, purple, rose, scarlet, white, yellow and believe it or not, black!  Who knew?  Stampassion's second new card kit includes Karen's lovely Peonies image, along with with a little gratitude stamp, • thanks •, just what I feel when I see a beautiful flower.  Grateful.

PeoniesCardB_350 This is the another card I did with the stamps and papers from Basic Grey's Green At Heart paper collection, included in the Peonies Card Kit, soon to go up on our website.  How appropriate since today is Earth Day!  You can really see the beautiful texture of the card stock in this photo.  They're also in the kit and the paper is called Fresh Leaf Bark.

I'm not sure I'll try black as the next color choice for this image, but definitely yellow or coral or really... anything but black!  I don't think my coloring skills are up to that.  I'd love to see one though, I bet they're beautiful.  Here's to peonies, in any color, and spring!

Dreaming Big!

Big-WhaleB_sun375

I love stamps from Impression Obsession and their artist, Leigh Hannan, is my favorite.  Here is a card I just finished using Leigh's stamp, Big Whale, and materials in our latest card kit.

To color the image, I used a combination of Copic Markers and a bit of PrismaColor Pencils, along with a Clear Stardust Pen to add some sparkle.  The image is also edged with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.  Fiskars' Boundary Wave punch always looks good with nautical images.  More cards to come!

Caught A Bug?

I loved these stamps when Karen Lockhart came out with them earlier this year. The little bug is adorable and fun to color.  I thought they would make an excellent 'get well' Greeting Card Kit for our stamp customers on Stampassion.com.  It's so useful to have a card, right there and ready-to-go, when you need one! CaughtBugCard1_250

In addition to the Lockhart Rubber Stamps, I used Basic Grey's 6" by 6" Paper Collection, Kioshi.  It has a great mix of vibrant and subtle patterns that, obviously, work well together.  I came up with three cards for the kit but with these papers, you'll have fun making up your own designs.

I also used Divine Twine, a new product in the shop.  Love the colors - take a look, if you'd like, just click here.  The spool of Divine Twine looks big, but they are only 4" tall. We have spools with a Trio of Divine Twine colors (that Mary laborious cut and wound!).  They are not up on the site yet, but I have hope they will be soon - lots of photos to take (too many, in fact!).

The cards are from Memory Box and the color is Parsley.  I used PrismaColor Pencils to color this little dude but it would be great with markers or Copics also.  As mentioned, it's fun to color.  In part because it doesn't take long and you can get wild with the colors.

The shine on his wings and goggley eyes is Glossy Accents.  The manufacturer, Ranger, make Mini Glossy Accents bottles, which I included in the Kit.  It's great stuff - a clear, dimensional medium, that can also be used as an adhesive.  It's self-leveling and dries to a very clear, hard finish.  Doesn't seem to yellow over time either.

CaughtBugCard3_330

Here's card #3 with a little more subdued pattern paper.  The circular flower was just fussy-cut from one of the Kioshi prints.  I added a bit of Glossy Accents in the center too.

They all look great live-and-in-person.  I can't help but think someone would feel immediately better if they received this little guy!  He's so ugly, he's cute.

Moving Day... sniff

MovingOutDay3_10After over 16 years at Newton Plaza in Latham, NY, Stampassion is officially moved out.

It is a bittersweet day, but Mary and I kept a smile on our faces as the space emptied out.  Mary was with me to the end and I suspect will stick with me as we transition to the online store.

She is simply... the best.
